Sitting here standing, this way and that… Out and about…
Had a swell time this past week.
Thursday’s show in Raleigh at Tir na nog was quite a hoot. Seeing old pals, new gals and watching James Yopp rip through some classic needles tunes that haven’t see the light of stage in some years. Hat’s off to that cat! It was also our introduction to The Dirty Little Heaters. I could tell you this and I could tell you that but those dudes and mamma lay down super tough, mellow but gnarled, soulful but stomping rock’n'roll.
Thanks and nice meeting y’all
Wilmington’s show at Reggies 42nd St. was a blast as well except for being totally sleep depraved and having to go on at 1:00am. It destroyed. WHite Tiger destroyed, The DL Heaters shook walls. Botox party was super too. Real punk for real punks that like older or punk music that is real.
Chapel Hill’s show at the cave was like a flash back for me as I’ve played that place in various bands from a decade back and then some. Chrome Plated Apostles were tremendous and it’s always great watching our old pal Matt T. drum, hum and bust out the joke chum…
Truly a great, close to home stint that was good enough and fun enough for me to write about. The almost flat tire incident and the “out pal Dana only 10 minutes away” incident were something else but we, like always over came and delivered the goods. There’s no stopping The Needles… y’all know that right?
The week before was an ultra hoot. Again traveling with Flying V shredder James Yopp on stage right guitar… 07/10-Baltimore was a total blast although I doubt we’ll ever play the talking head club again. If I wanna get screwed like that I’ll go to some other tiny rock club with a shitty sound man. Thanks for the free drinks suck ass.
Always great hanging with our pals in White Tiger that got to feel what it’s like to get it in the ear on there first jaunt out. The Cold Cold heartbreakers… I watch and dance and get sticky pie fingers from there merch table. Always good to see Mr. and Mrs. Henry, Matt G. and Eric the Leaf (tell you about that later).
07/11 was and new one for us. Ocean City, MD. Never played there before. All I can say is I want to go back and they want us back asap. Win-win situation. Thanks for the grub and the suds, the shots and the clots. Thanks for the blurry vision you spiked my drink with. Let’s do it again real soon.
07/12 Big Steve’s birthday bash at Chichos. It was pouring down rain+Chichos was packed out+Ben’s sink got broke (heard from steve… wasn’t me bro…)+I ate too much pizza+the beer was a few degrees shy of ice cold=rocked out!
Great seeing all the new faces, the old faces, the faces that we don’t see anymore on this side or that side. Thanks for making our summer fun, fast, and out of control.
An even bigger thanks goes out to James Yopp for making these shows sound and feel totally rocked out. That cat’s a rock trooper!
Thanks a ton bro!
Wit Love,
CH
